My name is Elisabeth, and I live in Norway, Vestfold County, and 90 km south of our capitol Oslo.
When I got my first Collie in 1984, Annabelle Samantha ( her page ), I wanted a female that could work sheep and cows. With Samantha, I was totally smitten with the breed, that’s not only intelligent and kind but also extremely beautiful and always ready for some fun.
Samantha was everything I could wish for in my first Collie, she teach me so much. We worked sheep and cows, and later we trained obedience, tracking and search. HD-free, and with excellent health these few years that she lived.
She was my heart-dog, and to lose her just 8 years young was heartbreaking. Thank you so much to breeders Tom Otto Lomark and Ulf Fosseland for letting me have this fantastic female and for your interest through the years.
When Samantha tragically died in 1993, I got another female Collie, Sammie ( her page ) . My goodness what a puppy Sammie was. She was a natural SAR-dog; she was an excellent herder and obedience dog. In time, she would also be Norway’s Most Versatile Meritated Collie (meritated in both sar, tracking, obedience (Elite-champion), conformation (also a champion), herding, approved mentality and working disposition test. She was also HD free and cea/pra/cataract free, normally thyroid and excellent health. This fantastic lady became mother to my B-litter (I bought back one of the boys, Sheppegutt ( his page ) he was in a terrible state). Sammie was killed by side effects from Rimadyl near her 13th birthday. Thank you so much to breeder Eva Elvsaas for letting me have this fantastic female and for your interest through the years.
In 2002 I got another fabulous female, Little Heike-mother ( her page ) , imported from Sweden. She was granddaughter of my Sammie, which was easy to see. Little Heike-mother was so extremely full of life and she always wanted to do something and learn new work. Herding, tracking, sar, field-search, approved mentality and working disposition test it didn’t matter what it was, she love everything. NHL- Champion. She became a fantastic mother to my C- and D-litter (one of the boys, Tengelman ( his page ) from D-litter stayed her). HD-free and cea/pra/cataract free, excellent health all her life even if she got some injuries – she was a crazy lady and “all over the place”. Totally fearless. At the age of 12 ½ year she not only gained CC and BOS, BOB-veteran but also BEST IN SHOW 4 Veteran – that’s quality. She was killed near her 15th birthday due to an ignorant veterinarian that did maltreated her. Heartbreaking. Grandchildren out of Sammie are in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Australia and Norway.
Thank you so much to breeder(s) Wanda Forsberg (and your husband Lasse) for letting me have this fantastic female and for your interest through the years.
My fourth and last female was bought in 2011, Wild Villemo ( her page ). She is an extremely happy lady, eager and fearless spitfire. She is very special and love people but don’t care about other dogs. She is also a working dog and loves to do different kind of things like obedience, tracking, herding and field-search. HD-free and cea/pra/cataract free. Has been shown at conformation shows with ok results. Unfortunately I have no contact with Wild Villemo's breeder, and have given up on getting my mails answered.
I got my kennel prefix Echuca in 1996, and only 3 litters have been born here (1996, 2004 and 2007) with a total of 13 puppies, 5 have been exported to Sweden.
Quality before quantity.
I have in total bought 4 puppies from different breeders and except for one breeder I have been extremely satisfied. 3 breeders have been fantastic in every way and want to hear about what they “produced”. With that I mean that these 3 breeders have always answered mails, letters, etc.
I have always tried to be as those 3 breeders, always answer if my puppy-buyers asking something.
My goal as a breeder has been to produce healthy puppies, with excellent mentality, with working abilities and proper Collie temperament (intelligent, gentle and active) with no trace of nervousness.
The parents I have used in my breeding has of course been gun-secure and didn’t react negatively to loud sounds.
My own females have of course also proven that they can work (SAR, herding, tracking, obedience). It’s important that the parents are well-constructed, and look like a Collie but as Steve Field said: "The Collie is a herding dog, it does not walk on its head".
For me the Collie is a working dog, and it is important to preserve it as that. And before breeding not only consider the outside of the dog but also the inside, for me a good mentality and health is alfa and omega. It is no use to be beautiful - if one is afraid of everything. In my breeding, I only use parents that have approved some kind of mentality test, they are health tested and my own Collies have to prove that they can herd.
As written above 13 puppies have been born here at Echuca, and among these, there are some fantastic results.
Here are some:
Norway’s only double champion in tracking
Three certified cadaverdogs
Three trackingchampions
One is used as an active elk hunter
Two approved BH-test (only two has attended)
One competing in obedience Elite

Several qualified/approved for obedience class 2
Several approved in obedience class 1

One qualified for higher class tracking

Several mentality-tested and lots of other good placements.
This had not been possible if I didn’t have such great puppy-buyers. Thank you so much to you all for showing/competing/training/loving “my puppies” to these awesome and fantastic results.
And most important thank you for having giving all “my puppies” loving and caring homes. I am truly blessed.
Puppies from Echuca Working Collies are tested at about 7 weeks of age (similar to Vollhart puppy Atitude test). They are eye-tested by a certified ophthalmologist, vaccinated, health examined, treated for worms and registrated in Norwegian Kennel Club. When they leave the will take with them a toy, food-bowl, food, blanket that smells of siblings/mother, and some tips regarding training etc.
I will follow the puppies from they are born to they die, and the buyers will get lifelong help in training/training-tips if they want and when living near they will get help in nail-clipping etc on the puppy as long as the puppy live.
I have tried to be there for my puppy-buyers, and I think all of them know that they could ask me if it was something wrong.
Thank you to all of you – it have been a fantastic journey to get to know you all.
